ENGAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS MANAGER
Location: Westminster, London.
Deadline: 31st July
The Adam Smith Institute (ASI) is a world-leading economics think tank based in Westminster, London. Independent, non-profit and non-partisan, we work to promote free markets and a free society through, through research, publishing, media outreach, and public education.
We are looking for a new Engagement and Operations manager to join us in a full-time role.
The role is primarily focused on ensuring the ASI runs efficiently, supporting the Directors and Chief of Staff in external engagement and internal operations. This includes the delivery of public and private events, and supporting fundraising campaigns.
The ASI has an inherent pro-action bias and team members grow into new responsibilities quickly. The ideal candidate will be given opportunities to support and start projects beyond the immediate job description, helping the organisation to continuously improve.
Depending on the candidate’s skills and interest, the role will be calibrated to have more exposure to overall team management (Operations & Events track) or fundraising (Development track), and potential to help with new projects within the Institute's Research track.
The ASI is open to different experience levels for this role, ranging from promising new graduates through to more experienced professionals from similar organisations, and will adjust compensation accordingly.
The ASI is the ideal organisation to accelerate your career, as it empowers individuals more than in comparable think tanks, while providing a respected platform upon which to rapidly develop. Since its foundation ASI staff, fellows, authors, and students have influenced or directly advised every UK government, with many going on to take formal roles in No10, become Directors of FTSE100 companies, or found their own businesses.

Managing all in-house and external events run by the Institute, ranging from intimate in-office audiences to collaborative events with 250+ attendees
Scouting venues and drafting event proposals

Creating promotional materials for events including brochures, slides, and social media posts
Drafting foundation and funding applications

Previous experience at organising events and engagement (e.g can be in student societies)
Evidence of previous project management of multidisciplinary teams
Understanding and appreciation of free markets and a free society Interest in promoting policies and educational ideas
An appreciation of the importance and willingness to learn key project & event management tools (we use tools like Notion, Luma, Brevo, Excel)
